19th Century Masonic Emblem Our solid brass Masonic Pins are made here in the USA.
Period correct Masonic emblems should be without the letter "G" in the center. The letter "G" did not appear inside the emblem until the beginning of the 20th century. Many soldiers who went to fight in the Civil War were Masons, and many wore symbols to denote their membership with the Fraternity. Pins were worn on the fronts of uniform coats, while some elected to wear them more discreetly on the inside of their coats or on their shirt beneath. There are accounts of Masonic emblems being sewn to the inside of uniform coats. The following link will take you to a site with many interesting stories of Masons helping Masons during the War, and other great information regarding Freemasonry during the Civil War.
